A study claims that 48% of Gen Z feel that “sex and sexual content is not needed for the plot of most TV & movies.”

I thought it was pretty interesting because I grew up in a world where sex was the driver for most of the content we consumed.

I imagine that since the next generation is looking to consume less of this it will affect the type of content we make overall.

Sex can be used in film to illustrate the bond characters have to one another. Eg. A character having an affair leading to a scandal, or an increase in love/trust between characters. I agree that it can sometimes be a useless opportunity to appease to some randy viewers, but it’s not always meaningless.

Seems like a generational over-correction from what we had in the past. Sex is part of life, so to say it’s unnecessary is to skip out on a major factor of what humans do and are. That would be like saying scenes with eating or food are unnecessary to the plot.
